Make Mondays Square Dance Night!

The goal of the Cascade CrossFires is simple: to have fun with friends on an ongoing basis. We just happen to use Plus Square Dancing as ‘something to do’ with those friends (that never gets old). Everything about the club is designed in support of that goal.

We dance on a regular basis: Mondays from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. However we take the Month of August off (too hot, the grange is not air conditioned) and we typically we skip holidays because frankly people would rather be doing holiday things on holidays, but if there is enough interest, we could change that on a case by case basis. Thus we dance from the second Monday in September (since we take Labor day off), until the last Monday in July, except for Monday holidays.

We dance at the Cedar Valley Grange: 20526 52nd Avenue Lynnwood.

Our caller is Stephen Cole, although we may have special callers from time to time.

Every year, starting the second Monday in October, we use the time slot for lessons, so that Mainstream Dancers can learn Plus and participate at our Monday dances year round. Note that we encourage EVERYONE to continue to come during this time. We try to make the night more about ‘dancing’ and less about lessons. Indeed we want all the teaching part to be done in the first 1/2 – 1 hour of the night, so that those who don’t want to help with new Plus dancers can come later and skip the instructional part. Ideally it just becomes a habit to come dance with us on Mondays, because it is fun whether lessons are running or not. Lessons take about 4 months to complete (there are only 30 Plus moves, but we take it slow). The rest of the year it is dancing, and perhaps a workshop on particular things (e.g. dance by definition etc) if there is interest.
